One Last Final Thing to Say

A Collage of Story and Song

UPDATE: We won second place for Best Play in Colorado Springs in the 2023 Best of the Springs contest! What an honor!

One Last Final Thing to Say explores the universal human experiences of grief and the pursuit of a meaningful life. Created by GhostLight Ensemble through a collaborative process, this original presentation incorporates music, dance, and drama.

Interconnected Stories

  • Joey and Tobi. In this one-act play woven throughout the show, Tobi is a teenage girl who asks the question “What would you want your last words to be?” while her older brother Joey is forced to choose between living his own life and coming alongside his sister to help fulfill her dream, before it is too late.
  • In Common. A documentary style play that explores grief and the “lasts” we face in our lives nearly every day.
  • Famous Last Words and Whose Last Line is it Anyway? Comedic plays that take a light-hearted view of our themes.

These short plays incorporate a wide range of styles, including drama, documentary theatre, parody, and improvisational comedy. As a whole, they take audiences on a journey through the joys and sorrows of life, highlighting our commonality as humans. GhostLight’s ultimate aim is that the art will do its job in opening hearts and minds, igniting and facilitating communities as they take action as they seek to find hope, healing, and meaning in unprecedented times.
